TLS (Transport Layer Security)

TLS, or Transport Layer Security, is a cryptographic protocol designed to provide secure communication over a computer network. It's widely used for internet security and is the successor to SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). TLS ensures that the data transmitted between web servers and clients is encrypted and secure, protecting it from eavesdropping, tampering, and message forgery. It's fundamental for secure web browsing, email privacy, and secure data transfer.
